The Cavapoo exhibits the best traits of both parents. It has the intelligence and agility of its Poodle parent, and the loving, people-pleasing characteristics of its Spaniel parent. The exercise needs of this breed are uncomplicated. It will adapt itself to the activity level of its family. They are highly adaptable to their surroundings and you'll find them happily cohabitating with their human companions in high-rise apartments, private homes, and sprawling farms. It makes no difference to Cavapoos where they live, as long as they live with people who love them. They are very people oriented and affectionate, with a clown like personality – they love to entertain their family! Most Cavapoos are easy to train and, due to their sweet and easy going dispositions, they make a perfect pet for children. They also get along great with other dogs and any other family pets. Life expectancy: 11 to 13 years.

The coat of the Cavapoo will vary from dog to dog. Some will have the sleeker coat of the Spaniel, while others may have curlier, coarser fur like a Poodle. For many Cavapoos, their hair will be a mixture somewhere between the two. Cavapoos can be one solid color or can have complex markings. They may be any shade of white, black or brown with patches of any other color, usually including colored ears. They also may have spots or freckles on the muzzle or legs. In addition, they may have patches over the eyes, on the cheeks, on the chest or under the tail. This breed has a variable size range, due to its Poodle parent, however the average size is: 6-17 lbs. 11-15 inches at the shoulder.

The Cavapoo is a very low shedder (some don’t shed at all) and regular brushing and trimming will be required in order to keep their thick coat healthy and mat-free. Depending upon their coat, they may be clipped like a Poodle, or given a low-maintenance “puppy cut”.
